★ WELCOME ★ TURN ON YOUR SPEAKERS ★ THIS IS NOT CRAZY FROG ★ THIS IS BEFORE CRAZY FROG ★

Welcome to my little corner of the internet.

My name is Daniel Malmedahl. I'm from Göteborg. You probably ended up here because of a sound. A silly, buzzing, two-stroke sort of sound that somebody once turned into a frog. That was me. Sort of. The frog wasn't me, but the noise was.

Grab a drink. Put your headphones on. Press play on the little player down there. Stay a while.

About me

I grew up in Göteborg in the nineties, which means I grew up with mopeds. Everyone had one, or wanted one, and the sound of a tvåtaktare ripping down a residential street was basically the background music of being fifteen.

One afternoon in 1997, when I was seventeen, I was messing around with a microphone and I started imitating the engine of one. Not a Crescent, not a Puch specifically. Just the sound. The buzzing, the rattling, the way it sort of coughs and then catches and then screams. I recorded it. I played it back. I laughed so hard I had to sit down. I played it for my friends. We laughed until we got tears. That is a direct quote from me, from a BBC interview years later. I stand by it.

That should have been the end of the story. A stupid little file on a stupid little computer in a stupid little room.
